Ah, the convention. Another year to catch
up on needlepoint.
P7050077.jpg (450x600; 97999 bytes) The Marriot Marquis is pretty swank and architechurally interesting. It's also conveniently located next to a large mall, the Peachtree Center, which makes it a great convention location. There's more to eat in the surrounding blocks, too, which is important when you're competing with 2,000 other conventioneers, who are all trying to find the half dozen places still open for dinner on July 4. tn_P7010033.JPG (350x467; 65919 bytes)
tn_P7010028.JPG (350x467; 50206 bytes) It has nifty glass elevators. If you're a philodendron, you'll never be lonely here. Quicktime movie of the ride in the elevator (whoohoo!).

We got a nice room on the 45th Floor. The view was pretty decent, especially at night. The view during the day wasn't bad, either.

We went to the Carter Center, which was very interesting, but I didn't take any pictures there. : ( .

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to CNN headquarters, where we toured the facilities where they air their Headline News, and their regular News programs. We got to see anchors anchoring, producers producing, the whole bit!

The building is huge, with one of the longest escalators in the US, I believe (8 stories). The bottom floor is tiled in a map of the world, with red tiles indicating the different CNN field offices.

Curtis Willoughby and associate keeping the radio airwaves under tabs. I'm afraid I didn't even know everyone I was photographing. That's Adonna Frankel on the left, Curtis again third from the left. Miss Lorina Riddle (who shared our banquet table this year) and Mrs. Mary Ellen Jernigan.

Out to lunch crowd
