Matching Funds

Many employers support their employees’ charity donations by matching a portion of the funds an employee donates. Through these programs, your NFBCA members, family members, co-workers and neighbors can inquire with the human resources department where employed. Donors can double their gifts to support your efforts to transform the lives of blind students, seniors , support state scholarships, and to assist with our educational and outreach programs in California. We are asking all who receive this information whether their employers offer gift matching programs. If they don’t know, please inquire with their human resources department. If you need additional information, please contact NFBCA President Ever Lee Hairston at 323-252-9188 or ever.hairston@gmail.com, or NFBCA Treasurer Rochelle Houston at 323-754-9689 or rhouston58@gmail.com.

Leaving A Legacy

Dream Makers Circle

You can help build a future of opportunity for the blind by becoming a member of our Dream Makers Circle. Your legacy gift to the National Federation of the Blind or the National Federation of the Blind of California can be made in the form of a will, or living trust, an income generating gift, or by naming us as the beneficiary of a retirement plan, IRA, pension, or a life insurance policy. You can designate a specific amount, a percentage, or list NFB as one of several beneficiaries. For additional information, please contact Patti Chang at (410) 659-9314, extension 2422 or at pchang@nfb.org.

Amazon Smile Program

The National Federation of the Blind of California (NFBCA) is a 501(C)3 charitable organization that works year-round to improve the lives of blind people in the state of California. The NFBCA encourages Braille reading for blind children, helps blind teens gain the skills to live independently, and empowers blind people of all ages to live the lives they want.

Through Amazon Smile you can contribute to the NFBCA each time you make an Amazon purchase. When you shop on Amazon Smile, Amazon will donate .5 percent of your purchase price to the charitable organization of your choice. The NFB of California is registered as an Amazon Smile charity.

Amazon Smile operates exactly like the standard Amazon site. You can sign in with the username and password you have always used, and you can apply your Amazon gift certificates.

It’s easy to create an account on Amazon Smile. This is all you have to do.

  • Go to www.amazon.com/smile
  • Enter or click on Your Account.
  • On the Your Account page, go to Change Your Charity.
  • Go to Edit and type National Federation of the Blind of California in the edit field.
  • Enter or click on the Select button. A popup will appear and announce that you have selected the National Federation of the Blind of California as your designated charity. Hit Dismiss and start shopping!
  • You will see a notice that you are supporting the National Federation of the Blind of California every time you shop at www.amazon.com/smile.

Half of one percent doesn’t sound like much, but lots of small amounts add up to big earnings. Think of all the money that you and your family spend on Amazon over the course of a year. Use Amazon Smile whenever you buy gifts, books, music, or household items, and each purchase will support the NFBCA and its programs. Help us spread the word by encouraging your friends, relatives, and colleagues to sign up for Amazon Smile as well.

Thank you from the blind of California!
