2020 NFB of California Scholarship Guidelines

The National Federation of the Blind of California is seeking well-rounded, dynamic, and driven blind undergraduate and graduate students to apply for our 2020 state scholarship! We will award up to three scholarships in amounts of at least $1,000 to California residents or students attending a college/university within the state of California.

Application Requirements:

1. Submit an online application.

2. Applicants must be legally blind.

3. Submit proof of full time enrollment for the 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 school year. An unofficial transcript or an acceptance letter are both examples of proof of enrollment.

4. Submit transcripts from the high school, college or university you are attending.

5. Upload one letter of recommendation. This letter should come from someone who can speak to your academic/employment performance, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, community service, personal character, etc. Professors, supervisors, religious officials, NFB leaders, and community leaders are example of people who may write a letter of recommendation.

6. Upload a resume or CV.

7. Finalists must attend the entire NFB of California Virtual Convention held from Thursday October 22 through Sunday, October 25, 2020. They must also attend all scheduled scholarship programming and required events/meetings. Details regarding this will be distributed when winners are notified.

8. Completed applications and all required documents must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday October 10, 2020. Winners will be notified no later than Thursday October 15, 2020. All documents should be uploaded to the Scholarship form. Acceptable file formats include: .doc, .docx, and .pdf. No .jpeg files please! Incomplete applications will not be considered!
